To the family:this is what Ernie lived for to be with his Lord. He was a great witness and a blessing to all that he came in contact with. May you find peace and comfort in His word.

I extend my condolences to the Frederick family. I remember Ernie as a "complete" man: compassionate, quiet and gentle, whose deep joy in Christ was not only evident but palpable (and contagious!); bold and fully confident of who he was in Christ-- tenacious and powerful in spiritual warfare. His commitment to advancing the Kingdom of God through intercessory prayer was both compelling and convicting. We won't know the profound impact Ernie's obedience to that call has had on the city of Pittsburgh-- and the whole earth-- until we, also, arrive in Heaven's courts. Oh, the crowns he must still be laying at the feet of our Redeemer! I pray that the Comforter will be manifest to each of you in tender and glorious ways.

Many years ago, I volunteered with Youth Guidance and had the wonderful privilege of meeting Ernie Frederick. He shared with me a paper on overcoming anxiety which I still have today. I am an author/blogger and when I came across his obituary, by "accident," I felt I must pay tribute to a man who radiated the love and joy of the Lord. My sympathy to his family. How blessed you were to have him.
Sincerely,
Megan (Murphy) Vance

What a blessing to the Nichols' family has been the life of Ernie and his family. We are saddened by his loss, yet cannot think or imagine the joy of his reunion in heaven with our blessed Lord. It will take a lot of prayer walkers to fill the void down here on earth.

As friends of over 60 years, we are saddened to hear of Ernie's death. And yet we know that his suffering is over and he is with the Lord. We are attaching a picture we took in New Mexico that speaks of the Lord entitled "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." (John 1)

My prayers are with the Frederick's family at the loss of your husband, father, and grandfather. I never had the honor of meeting this great man of God. I first heard about his love for the people of Pittsburgh and his daily devotion to pray from Mt. Washington as I was listening to Word FM 101.5 today on my way home from work. This blessed me very much and inspires me to make prayer a priority. May God comfort you!

To Sue, Nina, Curt and Frederick Family:
"For we know that when this earthly
tent that we live in is taken down,
when we die and leave these bodies,
we will have a home in heaven, an
eternal body made for us by God
Himself and not by human hands.
2nd Corinthians 5:1
The Lord has blessed you with a husband,
father and grandfather who has lived
an honorable and very productive life.
Ernie was very kind, loving, gracious
and certainly an inspiration to all
who came in contact with Him. I always
enjoyed the times we talked about
growing up in Garfield Hill. Two
different eras but we attended the
same grade school (Fort Pitt) and it
blew my mind when he brought his
eighth grade graduation picture to
one of our Garfield Reunions an we
also had the same Principal.
Be blessed by all the fond memories
that you have of Ernie and it is
our prayer that the Lord will continue
to shower you with His richest
blessings and give you strength for
each new day.
Love, grace and Peace,
Homer and

I remember Pastor Frederick and his family from our days at the Johnston Avenue Baptist Church. He, Lita and the children were a very strong presence in our church and Sunday School family. He baptized me and my brother Chuck and worked along side my mother, Lillian in Sunday School. He was a wonderful man. You could see God's love in all his words and actions. He was the genuine article. My sincere condolences to the Frederick family especially my childhood friends Mark, Chris, Nena and Eric. May God grant you peace.

Mark, Chris and family: I am saddened to hear this news. What a pleasure it was to meet your parents in Virginia all those years ago. They were such wonderful examples of the joy of being a Christian. Praying for you and your family at this time.

Nena, and family, I am so sorry for your loss. The pain of losing a parent is difficult, I hope knowing that Ernie is with the Lord, brings you the peace and comfort you need at this time. I always enjoyed sitting around the kitchen table and listening to your dad teach. He was a remarkable man and will be truly missed.
