DOLORES Z. (ZUCCARINI)
Age 87, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Leonard Kubiak, Sr.; devoted mother of Leonard Kubiak, Jr. (Nadine Kertis), the late Michael (survived by Irma DeAngelis), and the late Samuel (survived by Beth McAlexander); proud grandmother of Molly, Clifton, Katherine and Kirsten Kubiak; adoring aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Serafino and Frances Zuccarini; her brother, Anthony; and sister, Laurina. Dolores was a proud graduate of the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy and continued to practice well past her 80th birthday. She was also a remarkable chemistry teacher with many adoring former students. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Friends received at McCABE BROS., INC. FUNERAL HOME, www.mccabebrothers.com, 6214 Walnut Street, Shadyside on Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., where Funeral will commence on Monday at 9 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Sacred Heart Parish, 310 Shady Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15206.

I am happy to remember this wonderful, caring, and accomplished teacher. She made a big difference in my life, helping to launch me into my career in science. Huge thanks to you Mrs. K.. You earned a special place in heaven for the great many students you educated and motivated with genuine care.

Sorry to learn of her passing so late. I had Mrs. Kubiak for two years of chemistry at Schenley High School and she made an indelible impression on me. She was a remarkable woman and I was lucky to have her as a teacher.

Mrs. Kubiak was my 7th grade science teacher at Allderdice, and I am very sad at her passing. Her kindness and extra efforts on my behalf made a huge difference in my life. She recognized my passion for science and helped me get into the academic track at Allderdice in which I had been overlooked due to my lackluster performance in elementary school. She encouraged me and gave me much needed praise that elevated my low self confidence and motivated me to aspire to want academic success. Her loving concern launched me through to a Ph.D. in Oceanography and a satisfying career in science. For that, I have a debt to her I could never repay. And, for sure, she helped a great many other students in the same way. For that she earned a special place in Heaven as well as in my heart. Thank you a billion-billion times Mrs. K. !!!!!!!! The world is a better place for those of us who knew her. I was privileged to be her principal at Allderdice High School. So I was in position to know what a superior Chemistry teacher she was, admired and loved by students and faculty. God rest the soul of Dolores Kubiak in peace.

I was a student of hers at Allderdice High School in Pittsburgh in 1969. We all liked her a LOT and will miss her greatly. She was a wonderful person.
