ARTHUR J.
Arthur J. Gob (aka. "Big A", "Artie", "Big Guy", & "Nonno") 79, died Monday, May 8, 2017. He was born November 7, 1937, in Pittsburgh, the youngest of four children, to the late Jerry and Ida (Flaim) Gob. A first generation Italian-American, he grew up in Mt. Oliver and Whitehall. After marrying Dawn (Lewis) in 1963, he resided in Bethel Park for over 50 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Gob; and sister, Jenny Gob Fallert. In addition to his wife, left to cherish his memory are his sister, Gloria Gob Bunting; sons, Scott (Courtney) and Craig; granddaughters, Olivia Gob, Alexandria Gob and Sophia Gob. The first in his family to attend college, Art was a proud graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, played professional football for the Washington Redskins and the Los Angeles Chargers, and was an inductee into the Western Pennsylvania Hall of Fame. A lover of all sports, playing golf became his passion later in life, along with spending time with family and friends. As per Art's wishes there will be no visitation, however a memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, Artie would ask you to turn off your cell phone and sit and talk with a loved one. Condolences may be left at www.jeffersonmemorial.biz.

My uncle married Jenny, Art's sister and I met Art in 1958 when spending time in PA with my family. We live in CA. He was playing for PIT at the time and when the team came to LA to play, my dad and I drove 6 hours to see Art play. He was a truly wonderful person. I wish we had connected over the years. Please accept my deepest sympathies on your loss. I know how difficult it is to lose a husband, father and grandfather and brother.

Dear Aunt Dawn, Scott & C.S.,

I'm so very sorry for your loss, and so glad I had the chance to know Uncle Art for so many years. He was a towering figure in my childhood -- literally and figuratively. I'll always remember his sense of humor, his laugh, his generosity and his inexhaustible patience in teaching me how to run button-hook, sideline, flag and post patterns. I'll also remember what a good, true friend he was to our family in later years, through thick and thin. He'll be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

With much love,
Kenny, Francisca and Clara

To the Gob Family,
My name is Joe Gerlach, I played with Art
at Knoxville Jr. High in 1950 & 1951. Our
Basketball Team won the City Championship
in both of those years. Art was a great
player way back then and he continued to
go on for all of his years in Sports.
I just turned 80 in Feb. and most of the
guys that were on that Basketball Team
have passed away over the last 3 years.I only had made contact with Art over the years once. But it was such a great time
for us to over the time we had together on that 2 time Championship Team.
My condolence to you for having such a great Father. May He Rest in Peace and my
prayers are that
he an I will meet once
again in Gods Heavenly Kingdom.
And may God Bless all of you for all the days of your lives.
