BERNARD L. "BERNIE"
Of North Braddock, a resident of Juniper village, age 91, on Sunday, February 11, 2018. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose (Fogie) Thiem and his brothers, John (late Ann) and Edward Thiem. Brother of James (late Ruth) Thiem of Swissvale, Paul Thiem of Oakdale, Charles "Gus" (Evelyn) Thiem of West Mifflin, Margaret "Peg" (late Tom) Safran of N. Versailles and Alice (Doc) Lanowitz of N. Braddock; uncle of his special niece, Suzanne Voytko, and other nieces and nephews. Bernie was a graduate of N. Braddock Scott High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II and Korean War. He retired from USSteel, E.T. Works. Bernie was a devout Catholic who attended multiple daily Masses. Friends are welcome on Tuesday from 1-7 p.m. at PATRICK T. LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., 700 Linden Ave. at Cable, East Pgh, 412-824- 8800. Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church of Good Shepherd Parish on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Bernie will be laid to rest with Military Honors in Braddock Catholic Cemetery. Bernie's family extends deep gratitude to the staff of Juniper Village for their excellent care.
