Obituary Condolences

Age 86, of Castle Shannon, passed away on March 9, 2013. Beloved husband of Barbara (Flanagan) Shock for 64 years; loving father of the late Deborah Abel, Diane Johnson (Jim), Judith Wolfe (Ken), John (Val), Patricia Bosko, Pam Decker (Jerry), Randy, and Mark (Angel); he was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings; he is survived by one sister, Elizabeth Innes; proud grandfather of 25; and great-grandfather of 23; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bill served proudly in the US Air Force 1944-1950, he served in the European Theatre and was recalled to active duty due to the Korean War and achieved the permanent rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the American Legion. Bill was an employee of Duquesne Light Company for 36 years, retiring in 1988; he was a member of St. Anne Senior Citizens and Castle Shannon Senior Citizens. He joined the Castle Shannon Volunteer Fire Department in 1959 and was a proud and active life member of the organization for 54 years. Family and friends will be received on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME INC., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at NOON at St. Anne Catholic Church, 400 Hoodridge Drive, Castle Shannon. Interment and Military Honors to follow at St. Anne Cemetery.
