Obituary Condolences

71, of Glen Osborne, died February 19, 2013 in the care of her family after contracting lung cancer. She was born in Pittsburgh on December 7, 1941 to the late John Eugene and Dorothy Catherine (Lawrence) Ward. Raised in the Greenfield neighborhood, she graduated from St. Rosalia High School and later Seton Hill College with a degree in education. She taught in Pittsburgh Catholic schools before meeting and marrying her husband of eight years, Thomas Barnett, who preceded her in death in 1979. She later worked for the Pittsburgh Symphony from 1979 until 2003 in the symphony's customer service and accounts payable departments and was a clerk at the symphony's store, Curtain Call, Downtown. She won several employee-of-the-week and employee of-the-month awards, as well as the employee-of-the-year award in 2001 and the Vince Callaway Customer Service Excellence Award in 2003. She was a regular volunteer at both St. James Catholic Church and Quaker Valley schools, and a member of the Porsche Club of America. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Kennedy; two grandchildren, Kaylee and Myles; and treasured cousins and close family friends. A memorial mass with be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church, Sewickley, with Rev. Thomas J. Burke, celebrant, and Mrs. Barnett's godson, Rev. Charlie Hamill, assisting. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, Waterworks Road, Sewickley Heights. Arrangements by COPELAND'S.
