76, of Ruffsdale died at his home on Tuesday, February 17, 2009. Frank was born to Joseph and Josefina Allegra in Brooklyn, NY on October 8th, 1932. He was the youngest of four siblings with two older brothers, Vincent and Theodore, and a sister, Marie Berotti. Frank served in the Army during the Korean War and then studied engineering at the Missouri School of Mines. Frank and Sarah Lynn fell in love one summer at Jones Beach, Long Island and were married a year later on December 21, 1957. Frank managed and built engineering projects locally in the tri-state area, across the country and around the world. From microwave stations that linked American communications coast-to-coast to the structural steel that defines Pittsburgh's downtown skyscrapers, Frank Allegra has left a permanent contribution to the landscape. Additionally he has always been very active in the community, whether as a pension manager for the Ironworkers Local 3 or as the President of the Scottdale Community Pool. Frank Allegra was a beloved father, grandfather and member of many communities. He is survived by his wife, Sarah, and children: Catherine Allegra and James Tanner; Joseph and Amy Allegra; and Christopher Allegra and Brian Bauman. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Alexander, Zachary, and Jackson Tanner; and Joshua and Brianne Allegra. Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 SPRING STREET, SCOTTDALE (724-887-5300/www.fergusonfunerals.com). Visitation will take place in the funeral home chapel from 2-8 PM Friday, February 20 and from 10-11 AM Saturday, February 21 followed by funeral services at 11 AM with Rev. John Morrow officiating. Burial will be in Greenlick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Scottdale Community Pool at 115 Pioneer Way, Scottdale 15683 or the Verna Montessori School at 268 Prittstown Road Mt. Pleasant, PA 15666.
