I just read through all these messages and what a tribute they are to her loving, giving spirit. Norman, how wonderful that she had you write from the "Pittsburgh" book and took you on those Sunday visits -- those two acts symbolize what she stood for: deeply involved with family and mindful of her and our history. So many of us cousins lost our mothers too soon, and Dorothy, the oldest and longest-lived, was always there to help fill the gap. She overcame many physical challenges to reach 89, but she had one great advantage: Thanks for never smoking, Aunt Dot.

Aunt Dot will be remembered as one of the most influential people not only in our family, but in the community. I have many fond memories growing up of spending time at Aunt Dot and Uncle Al's, along with accompanying them on Sunday visits to family (including many close calls driving through Etna with Aunt Dot's neckbrace on). She taught me the value of thinking about what I said before I said it (and did this through making me write pages from the 1970's "Pittsburgh" book when I was out of line). She will be sorely missed.

To the Gionavazzi Famiy,
Aunt Dot was the Matriarch. She was a very special aunt to all her nieces and nephews. She was such an unselfish person. I believe she was a living Saint as my mom would agree. I want to thank her for being such an important person in my life and my family. Oh, the fun we had with her in our lives. Lake Erie trips, campfires, and chicken dances. Aunt Dot was the queen of chicken dance. We were truely blessed to have her. God Bless you at this difficult time. May all the great memories remain in your hearts forever.

Mrs. G as I knew her, was one of the sweetest and hippest people I had the pleasure of knowing. She passed her wisdom on to not only her wonderful family but all of us who considered her as a mother to us. Although we will miss her dearly...we can take great pleasure in knowing we have all gained another angel watching over us. AND despite the age discrepancy she and I had one HUGE thing in common....REESE'S PEANUT BUTTER CUPS!! Love you misses G..Rest In Peace.

My Nan was the best Grandmother, Mother, Aunt, Cousin, Sister, and friend anyone could ask for. She inspires me to be a better person every single day. I'm going to miss all the stories she used to tell, always beating Aunt Donna at Texas Hold 'Em, and her never having her teeth in. Holidays just won't be the same without her. She was a wonderful person and I will never forget her. I love you Nan, you'll always mean more than the world to me. This isn't a goodbye, only a see you later. Say hey to Pap for me.

It was an honor to have known Dorothy (Nan) and spend time with her. She was a very bright and witty person. I loved to hear her stories. I got to play cards with her a couple times while she was in Clover visiting her daughter Doreen. She has 5 wonderful daughters that will miss her dearly along with so many other family memebers and friends. Rest in peace Nan.
