JOAN HUMPHREY Obituary
Age 84, of Green Tree, on May 22, 2018. Leaving behind husband of 59 years, Roy; daughter, Julie (Werner); grandson, Nikolai. Preceded in death by her twin sister, Jean Thayer; and brother, Alfred Wade. Retired as Christian Education Director from Oakmont Presbyterian Church. She previously served at Bower Hill Presbyterian Church in Mt. Lebanon, Sharon Community Presbyterian Church in Moon Township, and Wallace Memorial Presbyterian Church in Green Tree. Earlier she was an elementary school teacher in Green Tree. She also taught in the College of Education at Silliman University in the Philippines. Two of Joan's greatest passions were education and the well-being of children; she was active with Her Star Scholars, a non-profit which supports education for impoverished girls in the Philippines. Memorial contributions may be made to Her Star Scholars, 8783 GH Taylor Memorial Drive, Hammondsport, NY 14840. Her Memorial Service will be held on June 9, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Unity Presbyterian Church (formerly Wallace Memorial) in Green Tree.
