JOHN J. "BIG JOHN"
83, of North Huntingdon, died at home Wednesday, February 20, 2013. He was born February 23, 1929, in Irwin, a son of the late Frank and Ethel Pearl (Barton) Brentzel and was also preceded in death by a son, Mark James Brentzel; and brothers, Frank Brentzel and William Hamilton. John was a self-employed contractor operating John J. Brentzel Inc., of North Huntingdon for many years. He is an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of Paintertown Evangelical Lutheran Church. He also was a former Boy Scout and had received the Order of the Arrow. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Almeda G. (Beiter) Brentzel; children, John L. Brentzel and his wife Cynthia of North Huntingdon, Cathy M. Brentzel of Washington, DC, and Frank N. "Bull" Brentzel at home; grandchildren, Nicole (John) Webb, Melissa Brentzel (fiancé Edward Waibel), Stacie (Andrew) Brentzel, Ashlee (Daniel) Pelczar, Stephanie Brentzel (fiancé Michael Evan), and Catherine Grace Brentzel; great- grandchildren, Ty and Kassidy Webb and Andrew John Yeager; a sister, Romaine Hensler of North Huntingdon; brothers, Edward (Dolly) Brentzel of New Alexandria, and Wayne (Elaine) Brentzel and Ronald (Diane) Brentzel both of North Huntingdon; also many nieces and nephews; and his beloved Jack Russell "Scuffy". Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200, where a Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Union Cemetery, North Huntingdon. The family would like to thank to his caregiver Nikki Brown and the staff of Amedisys Hospice for all the kind and compassionate care.
