Obituary Condolences

56, affectionately known as "Johnny O", of Wexford, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014. John is the son of Helen Orzechowski and the late Teddy Orzechowski. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn (Barca) Orzechowski; his sister, Janet (Joe) Femiani; niece, Julianne; and nephew, Marco; aunt, Jadwiga "Ciocia"; and late uncle, Stanley Kisielewski of Montreal, Canada. He was preceded in death by his brother, David Orzechowski. After getting his start in the grocery business as a bag boy, John worked his way up to become the proud owner of the Aliquippa Giant Eagle, located in the Green Garden Plaza in Aliquippa. He was a member of the Pittsburgh Association of Manufacturers Representatives (PAMR), and the Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association (PFMA). In 2005, he was the recipient of the PAMR "Humanitarian Award", and in 2008, was named the PAMR "Retailer of the Year". A loving, gentle, and giving friend, John shared his success with many and volunteered for many local charities and organizations. He previously served on the board at Aliquippa Hospital. He was a volunteer basketball coach for the Moon School District, and a dedicated fan of Pitt and Robert Morris basketball. John was a stylish and avid golfer, and could be found playing with friends anytime he had the opportunity. He was a member of several golf clubs including The Club at Nevillewood. In moments like these, when we are reminded of the fleeting nature of life, we are thankful for the spirit, and the celebration of John's life. Family and friends will be received Saturday and Sunday from 1-9 p.m. at JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pleasant Hills.
