JOSEPH WERTHEIM Obituary
Age 62, of Mount Lebanon, on Saturday evening, August 11, 2012. Beloved husband for 38 years of Elaine (Edwards) Wertheim; devoted father of Benjamin E. Wertheim; son of Rear Admiral Robert H. Wertheim and the late Barbara Selig Wertheim; brother of David A. Wertheim. Joe served as the Director of the South Hills Food Pantry; he was on the Board of Trustees of the Mt. Lebanon Public Library; President of the Friends of Mt. Lebanon Public Library; and was on the Advisory Board of the Denis Theatre Foundation. Family and friends will be received at the LAUGHLIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon, Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the Main Sanctuary of Southminster Presbyterian Church, 799 Washington Road, Mount Lebanon, Wednesday evening at 7:00 o'clock. If desired, memorials may be made to either of the following: Brother's Brother Foundation, Mount Lebanon Public Library, Sojourner House, Barrow Neurological Foundation (ALS Research).

My heart is with you at this moment when Joe's memorial service is in progress. I am grieving for the loss of a dear man who was my "little brother" in many ways and shared my early days in Washington, DC (and at the time, Annandale, VA). Hard to accept that his physical presence is gone, but his beautiful spirit, smile, and legacy of love and service will live forever.
