1924 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Age 94, of Point Breeze, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Friday, May 11, 2018. Beloved wife for 56 years of the late Angelo P. Fello; loving mother of Joseph (Karen) Fello, Maryanne (Lea) Fello, Carolyn (Joseph Worsk) Miller, and Robert (Jo Ann) Fello; sister of Ethelreda Welter and Eugene Widenhofer; grandmother of Joseph, Stephanie, Blaise, Hilary, Mary Catherine, Dale, Nicole, Robert, Francesca, and William; great-grandmother of Dylan, Nicole, Christina, Angelo, and Asa; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was born in 1924 in Great Belt (Butler), PA. She graduated with her RN from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1944 as part of the Cadet Nurse Corps of the US Army. For over 40 years she worked as an RN at St. Francis General Hospital in labor and delivery, rehabilitation and the "Short Stay" department. In 1980 she graduated with a BA degree from LaRoche College. Mary was a lifetime parishioner of Holy Rosary R. C. Church of St. Charles Lwanga Parish. She became an Associate of the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1985. In 2012 she received the Jefferson Award for Outstanding Public Service for her 17 years of volunteer work at Forbes Hospice. Mary loved cooking, baking and was an avid knitter. She was known for her pie crust recipe and her autumn canning of tomatoes and peaches. Above all, Mary unconditionally loved her children and their spouses, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Friends and family will be received from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday at MAURICE L. KNEE, LTD. FUNERAL HOME, 7663 Saltsburg Rd., (across from S & T Bank) Plum, PA 15239. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, 11 a.m. at St. Bartholomew R. C., Penn Hills. Interment will follow in Allegheny Cemetery, Lawrenceville. If desired and in lieu of flowers, the Fello family suggests memorials to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 1020 State St., Baden, PA 15005, or to Orphans of the Storm, PO Box 838, Kittanning, PA 16201, or St. Charles Lwanga Parish, 7114 Kelly St., Pittsburgh, PA 15208.
