1930 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
Suddenly on November 19, 2017. Mary Lou Zack Pement was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick W. Pement, who died one month and two days prior to her passing. Mary Lou was born in Adah, a small mining community near Uniontown, Pennsylvania, and was raised by her loving widowed mother. It was in that town that she developed her love of reading and of Bluegrass music. After graduating from the local high school, she came to Pittsburgh to attend Duff's Secretarial School and later became a legal secretary. She met her husband, Fred at a party through their mutual love for Bluegrass music. She loved animals, particularly cats, but after the death of a pet cat, could not bear to take in another one, but generously helped her friends in the care of their pets. Mountains and forests and gardens were a lifelong delight to her. Macular degeneration took away her ability to read or see clearly, and many health issues troubled her during the last number of years of her life. Her friends have lost a dear, loyal and generous person with her passing. Visitation will be held at D'ALESSANDRO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, LTD., 4522 Butler St. in Lawrenceville on Saturday, December 9, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
