Obituary Condolences

Age 24, of Plum, on Sunday, March 27, 2011, peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He handled his illness with dignity and grace, and is an inspiration to all who knew him. Michael was born on July 26, 1986. He is the beloved son and hero of Wilbert C. Dunlap, Jr. and Sue Ellen (Snedeker) Dunlap; and loving brother and friend of Christopher Dunlap of Weehawken, NJ. Michael is also survived by the love of his life, Missy Zielonka, and their dear puppy, Sid; as well as several cousins, aunts and uncles. His grandparents are Will and Marian Dunlap of Palmyra, PA and Harry E. Snedeker of Beaver Falls, PA. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, C. Louise Snedeker of Beaver Falls on January 8, 2011. Michael was a 2004 graduate of Plum Senior High School, where he was a four-year member of both the golf and ice hockey teams. He also played violin in the orchestra, studied piano and was a member of the Boy Scouts. He graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2009 with a Bachelor's Degree in English, and had been working toward a Master's Degree in English. He caddied for eight years at Oakmont Country Club, and also wrote as the Penguins hockey reporter for Examiner.com. Michael was an avid hockey fan and player. During his 15 years of playing hockey, he played for the Allegheny Badgers, the Amateur Penguins 1986 team, the Pittsburgh Piranhas, the Eastern Tigers, the Plum Mustangs and the IUP Crimson Hawks. He also played in an adult ice hockey league and played goalie for a dek hockey team in Murrysville. Visitation to celebrate Mike's life will be at the MAURICE L. KNEE, LTD. FUNERAL HOME, 7663 Saltsburg Rd. (across from S&T Bank), Plum, PA 15239, on Tuesday 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Holiday Park United Methodist Church, 81 Sandune Drive, Plum. Everyone please meet at church. Burial service to follow at Plum Creek Cemetery.
