NEIL B., Sr.
Age 67, of Upper St. Clair, suddenly, on Sat., July 5, 2014. Beloved husband of Jo Anne Reed; loving father of Neil B. II and Reed Apfelbaum; son of the late Murray R. and Claire (Leven) Apfelbaum; son-in-law of Jeanne and the late Bill Reed; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Neil was a childhood resident of both New York City and Miami. He was a superb swimmer especially the butterfly which he swam at Colgate Univ.; graduating in 1968. Neil went on to attain his Doctorate in Education from Indiana Univ. Bloomington. He was a radiant academic with an unquenchable appetite for knowledge and a well honed mastery of the written word. Neil dedicated his professional career to the financial services industry and held the designation of Certified Financial Planner. During his career, Neil worked for John Hancock, GE and Fidelity Investments. He was extremely fond of reading, cooking, Pirates baseball, USC athletics and laughing with friends. Neil enjoyed nothing better than sitting with a good book and hearing the Pirate's game in the background. Friends will be welcomed at LAUGHLIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 222 Washington Rd., Mt. Lebanon FRIDAY 4-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Louise de Marillac Church Sat. at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Upper St. Clair Library.
