FISHER ORPAH L.

Orpah L. Fisher passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at the age of 96 years due to natural causes at Asbury Heights Nursing Home in Mt. Lebanon, where she had been a resident for the past 8 years. She had been in declining health over the past few years. Orpah was the daughter of Walter and Naomi Fawcett (both deceased) and sister of Walter and Thomas Fawcett (both deceased). Prior to his passing in 2008, Orpah was married to James M. Fisher for 63 years. Orpah is survived by daughter, Diane Dunbar of Powell Butte, Oregon and son, Richard W. (Beth) Fisher of Durham, NC. She also had two grandchildren, Catherine King and Brigid (Wayne) King and two great-grandchildren, Madeleine and Austin King. Orpah was born in McKeesport Hospital on November 16, 1921. Orpah went to business school but decided to be a full-time mom after Diane was born. She spent the majority of her life as a resident of South Park Township. Orpah and her husband Jim were founders of Windover Hills United Methodist Church in 1958. Both were active volunteers in many ways. Orpah was a longtime volunteer at Asbury Heights, the South Park Library and Meals on Wheels. She was active in the South Park Women's Club and was a Girl Scout Leader. For her service, Orpah received a Community Service Award from the Township in 1985. Orpah was a longtime Pittsburgh Pirates fan with season tickets for over 20 years. She also spent many hours in the garden with her favorite flower, the Iris. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 23rd at 1 p.m. in Windover Hills United Methodist Church.
