1959 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
Age 54, of Ross Twp., passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, while under the care of the Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford. Born February 26, 1959 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Barbara Moore of Zelienople and the late Richard Moore. Rachel was a strong advocate for individuals with disabilities. She worked for the Mental Health Association of Allegheny County, where she raised money to support people with disabilities to voice their opinions in the political arena. Rachel was recognized by the state for her success in assisting individuals to vote. She also successfully organized people living in personal care homes to advocate for an increase in their personal needs allowance with their state representatives. In her free time, she enjoyed kayaking, cycling and making greeting cards. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. In addition to her mother, she leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 16 years, Paul Freund of Ross Twp.; her three children, Nick Buls of Harrisburg, Paul Freund and his wife, Joscelyn of Pittsburgh and Jake Buls of Pittsburgh; her grandson, Eli Freund; her brother, Jeff Moore of Cranberry Township; her three sisters, Rebecca Linn and her companion, Mark of Nederland, CO, Sherry Floyd and her husband, Carl of Prospect, Carole Kalmbach and her husband, Keith of Harmony; and six nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard A. Moore. Rachel's family will welcome friends on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 324 E. Grandview Avenue, Zelienople. A Memorial Service will be held in her honor at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the English Lutheran Church, 200 E. Grandview Avenue, Zelienople, with Rev. Robert A. Keplinger, officiating. A CELEBRATION OF RACHEL'S LIFE WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2013 from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the Class Community Service Center, 4638 Center Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213 (Oakland section). She will be laid to rest at the Allegheny County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor in support of Gilda's Club Western Pennsylvania, 2816 Smallman Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
