ROBERT TIMBERS Obituary

TIMBERS
ROBERT H.
Of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away February 1, 2018, at his home. We think he passed away at this time to avoid seeing the Patriots play in another Super Bowl rather than his beloved Steelers. Robert was born November 30, 1953, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Charles E. Timbers, Sr. and Lillian M. (Johnson) Timbers. He graduated from South Hills High School in 1972. Robert went to work at the old Western Pennsylvania Hospital as an orderly, but was soon promoted to the position of pulmonary technician because of his aptitude and strong work ethic. Robert, also known as "Bobby" to many of his peers and friends, was also a handyman and could fix anything. In his younger days, he was a sportsman and could play any sport, especially baseball and softball, and was on several leagues. He was also a prolific boxer and fought in several recreational tournaments and often advanced to the championships. In addition, he was an avid musician who played the bass guitar and was also a skilled painter. A friend to many, always kind and caring, Robert helped people whenever he could. Robert was preceded in death by his mother and father,Charles Timbers, Sr. and Lillian Timbers, his grandparents, and his older sister, Trena Johnson. Robert is survived by one daughter, Marquita (John) Lanier of Columbus, OH; four sons, Robert Brooks, Charles (La'decha) Timbers, Eric (Ketisha) Timbers, Brandon Wade of Pittsburgh, PA; and his 25 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; his brothers, Charles E. Timbers, Jr. and Victor Walker of Washington State; sister, Keona Timbers; Alvin Johnson, a nephew who was like a son to him; his brother-in-law, Timothy Sherrill; Aunts, Patricia Murray and Sadie Timbers; and his only surviving uncle, Rudolph Johnson; a host of nieces and nephews; and his two cats, Midnight & Snowball. Robert spent his last years with Debra Anderson, his companion of 30+ years and her children whom he considered his step-sons, Kevin Kress, Johnny Anderson, and Jason Anderson; and an "Army" of cousins, especially the Wallace descendants. We must also mention Amy and Tyler Dorsey whom he loved as his own children. There were no visitations. Arrangements were entrusted to the JOHN SYKA FUNERAL HOME,833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge.
