Age 100, of Pittsburgh, on Wednesday, February 27, 2013. Born August 25, 1912 in Millville, NJ, a son of the late Leslie and Elizabeth (Appleby) Lore and brother of the late Marsden Lore and Eleanor Early. Stan attended Central High School in Washington, DC and was 1934 graduate from the University of Maryland with a BS in Civil Engineering. He was a member of the University Baseball Team, the MClub and was the President of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. "Go Terps!" In 1938 he married the love of his life for 53 years, the late Helen (Krafthofer) Lore. After many years of service as a sales executive for U.S. Steel, he moved to Norfolk, VA where he was the manager of JB Kendall Co. He served as the President of the Sales Executive International and relocated to Pittsburgh in 1954. Stan became the manager of High Strength Steel in 1966 and was known to many as "Mr. COR-TEN", retiring in 1977. Later he became the Director of Cor-Ten Steel Marketing and Technical Service for U S Engineer and Consultants before retiring again in 1998 after 62 years with U.S. Steel. He not only took pride in his business but also in the lifelong friendships he forged over the years traveling the world with COR-TEN. Stanley was an active 60 year member of Southminster Presbyterian Church where he taught Sunday School, was President of the Deacons and served on several committees. An avid golfer, Stan was a long-time member of Chartiers Country Club and a staunch Republican with patriotic views. His greatest passions included faith, family and friends. Devoted father of Pamela Lore Iams (William Iams, M.D.) of Camp Hill, PA and the late Rodney Clark Lore; loving grandfather of Christine LaFollette, Kenneth (Nicole) Iams, Robert (Joelle) Iams, and Kathryn (Ray) Richardson; great- grandfather of Jason and Kristen LaFollette, Tyler and Olivia Iams, Marlowe and Miles Richardson. Friends will be welcomed at LAUGHLIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon, Friday evening 5 until 8 and in Southminster Presbyterian Church, Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until time of Service at 2 o'clock. Interment Jefferson Memorial Park.
