Obituary Condolences

Peacefully left this earth on Sunday, August 5, 2018. Stu was a very proud Pennsylvanian. He graduated from what he would say was "the oldest high school in this country," Central High School located in Philadelphia, PA and obtained a degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Growing up in Philadelphia, Stu would learn and fall in love with all forms of navigation. That would lead him to spending four summers with the Merchant Marines. He had a love for the cities of London, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh. He enjoyed discussing topics like baseball, politics, and of course, literature. He was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees. Being a history buff and having admiration for the voices of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Edward R. Murrow, helped mold him into becoming a professional and dignified reporter. Most people know Stuart Brown as a journalist. He started off his writing career in college. Then he worked at KYW Radio in Philadelphia. KDKA in 1968-1974. Freelanced with WQED. Wrote for The Post-Gazette from 1976-1980. Stuart would finish his long time love with broadcasting at WPXI in Pittsburgh, PA. Through the decades of interviews, some of his most memorable included Martin Luther King, Jr., Mickey Mantle, President Richard Nixon and President Bill Clinton. Covering all types of stories, Stuart was always fair and responsible. One of his favorite accomplishments was that he wrote and published the book "A Man Named Tony: The True Story of the Yablonski Murders." Stuart Brown will be missed by his family, fellow peers, and the news industry. Stuart is survived by his sons, Jason Brown and Evan (Charlotte) Brown. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUER. Family and friends welcome Friday 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at 2828 Washington Rd., McMurray, 724-941-3211. Entombment will immediately follow in Washington Cemetery. Please add or view tributes at:
