Sister Redemptina (1955-1968), a School Sister of Notre Dame. Peacefully died on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the Vincentian Home in the North Hills surrounded by caring staff and family. Sister Ursula was the daughter of the late John W. Kelly and Elizabeth O'Toole Kelly. She is survived by her two sisters, Sister Kathleen Kelly, S.S.N.D. and Sister Elizabeth Maries Kelly, S.S.N.D. The family members that have preceded Sister Ursula in death are Regina, Father John W,. Kelly, C.S.s.R., Martin and Gerard. Sister Ursula received her education at Saint Philomena in Squirrel Hill, Holy Angels Academy in Fort Lee, NJ, College of Notre Dame, of Maryland, and Duquesne University. Her ministry of teaching began in Baltimore at Saint Joseph Monastery in September, 1958 until the call came from Pittsburgh in 1963 to teach at Most Holy Name School in Troy Hill. Then she was asked to go to St. Joseph's in Verona as Principal and teacher. Sister's next assignment was to become Consultant for her order on the East Coast. In 1974, Auxiliary Bishop John McDowell asked Sister to begin a certification program for religious education personal which she directed until retirement in 2009 and worked as a consultant for the Catholic School Catechesis. Sister wrote many articles for the Pittsburgh Catholic as well as Guidelines for Religious Education on all levels. Sister Ursula was a faith-filled woman that tried to live for 62 years of her religious vows in all ways, she fulfilled all aspects. Friends will be received at JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS, INC., (freyvogelfuneralhome.com) 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street on Saturday and Sunday from 12 - 4 p.m. Funeral Monday, Mass of Christian Burial, St. Paul Cathedral 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks ALL donations be made to the retirement fund of School Sisters of Notre Dame, 6401 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21212 or Vincentian Home, 111 Perrymont Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. A special thank you to all staff for services and care done in loving, prayerful manner for the Kelly Family.
