Obituary Condolences


Of Upper St. Clair, PA passed away September 11, 2018 peacefully after a long illness at McMurray Hills Manor, McMurray, PA.  He was the son of Waldemar (Wally) and Helen (Jestead) Blumfeldt. He is survived by his loving wife, Joy (Orsino, Ruano); daughter, Linda (Van Ackeren); sons, Bradley and Westley Blumfeldt; three stepchildren that he loved as his own, Michael and Mark Orsino, and Christine Van Etten; he was also survived by 12 grand-children and four great-grandchildren, as well as numerous friends and extended family.  He attended Mt. Lebanon High School, where he played football, as well as, for the local championship Wildcat Sandlot team. He attended Carnegie Mellon where he played college football and was a champion pole-vaulter. He graduated college as a mechanical engineer and later went on to become a Professional Engineer. His first job was at Pratt & Whitney, then Salem Brosius of Carnegie, before going out on his own to design and build heat treat furnaces for industry and government.  He designed, built and flew his own experimental bi-wing airplane. He could read a "How To Book" and fix or build anything; electrical, plumbing, woodworking, etc. He was the commissioner of youth football in Upper St. Clair from 1968-1975. He was a life long paddle tennis and tennis player. He had a great sense of humor and was loved by everyone. There will be a private memorial at BEINHAUER, at a later date.
