EDWARD DALY Obituary
79, of Mt. Lebanon, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 28, 2012, with his wife, son and daughter at his side. Born on October 23, 1932, in the West End of Pittsburgh, only son of Edward J. Daly, Sr. and Beatrice (Scheider) Daly. He graduated from St. James High School in 1950. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Carnegie Mellon in 1965, and worked for 47 years as an Electrical Engineer for Duquesne Light, retiring in 1999. Ed was an active member of St. Bernard's Church in Mt. Lebanon, serving as Eucharistic Minister and money counter. He served in the Naval Reserves and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Ed loved sports and coached basketball, baseball and softball in Mt. Lebanon and Dormont. He served two terms as Commissioner in Mt. Lebanon and as President for part of his term. Ed served on the board of Medical Rescue of Mt. Lebanon. Surviving are his loving wife, Mary C. Daly; his devoted children, Edward J. (Anne) Daly, III of Lincoln, NE, Betsy (Ken) Eglberger of Peters Township, Jack (Metka) Daly of New York, NY, and Dan (Linda) Daly of Peters Township; and his grandchildren Chloe, Madeline, Alexandre, Bérénice, Joey, Danny, James, Autumn, Luke, and Anna. Friends will be welcomed Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at LAUGHLIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Bernard Church Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. Betsy... my sincerest sympathies to you and your family. Your Father was such a dedicated man in many ways. I was the beneficiary of his talents when he served as my softball coach. He was always giving in some way to help others grow. What a great coach, gentle, patient and kind. May He rest in peace. May the Lord grant you His peace that transcends all understanding.

Betsy, my father Ed Sedney was an original member of the chimbote foundation. I knew Jules Roos personally and there work was awesome. And obviously still is. I would like to donate for this cause again in behalf of the Sedney family. Peace to you and your family.

Ed was a true gentleman. I enjoyed working with him when he was a commissioner and also his visits to our office in subsequent years. So sorry I am in Florida and cannot express my condolences in person, but I am thinking of you Mary and your family.

So sorry to read about the passing of Mr. Daly... He was a good friend of my parents when he lived in Dormont. Mr. Daly gave up so much of his time to help the community and the church.. He will be greatly missed..
