Obituary Condolences

Age 55, passed away peacefully in his home in Pittsburgh, PA on April 14, 2012. Brian was born on November 3, 1956 in Hyde Park, NY to Arvid and Marian Berger. While growing up in Poughkeepsie, NY, he played the trumpet, French horn and piano, was active in sports, and enjoyed camping and hiking. He earned a B.S. in engineering from SUNY at Buffalo and a M.S. in mathematics at CMU in Pittsburgh. He worked at Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory of Bechtel Marine Propulsion Corp. for most of his career. On June 12, 1982, Brian married Susan Kutch. They had four children, Lauren, Kristen, Jonathan and Chelsea. Brian and his family are members of Lakeview Christian Life Church, where he served as a home meeting leader, Sunday school teacher, nursery worker, and usher. His faith was a great encouragement to others. Brian will always be remembered for how he loved his family, his friends, and his Lord Jesus Christ. Brian is survived by his wife, Susan; their four children; his father, Arvid Berger of Neillsville, WI, and his siblings, Bradley Berger of Baltimore, MD, Theodore (Roberta Diaz Brinton) Berger of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, Stephanie (Michael Varisto) Berger of Martinez, CA, and Steven (Bridget Sullivan) Berger of Louisville, CO. He is also survived by nieces, Kimberly Berger, Michaela Varisto; and nephew, Evan Varisto. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marian Berger. A memorial service for Brian will be held on Monday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Lakeview Christian Life Church in Bridgeville, PA. Arrangements entrusted to the LEO J. HENNEY FUNERAL HOME, Carnegie.
