Obituary Condolences

Of Ligonier, passed away peacefully in the arms of her beloved children, Karen and Craig, Thursday, February 28, 2013, at the Bethlen Home. She was born May 10, 1929, in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of the late Arthur W. and Josephine G. Hedgren; and sister of Arthur W. Hedgren, Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, C. Craig Davis. Joan graduated from Bucknell University, Class of 1951, where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. A devoted mother and wife, Joan loved to play golf, bowl, and play bridge. In retirement, she and her husband, Craig traveled around the world but also relished sitting on the back porch, listening to the sounds of wind chimes and hummingbirds. Joan was an active member of Heritage United Methodist Church and its women's Circle group. The courage, wit and kindness she demonstrated in her lasts months inspires us all. We love you so much, you have no idea! Joan is survived by her son, Craig Hedgren Davis, of New York City; and her daughter, Karen Davis Jones and son-in-law, Walter A. Jones, of Summit, N.J.; her brother, Arthur W. Hedgren, Jr. of Upper St. Clair; grandchildren, Christopher Scott Jones and his wife, Katherine Burgess Jones and Monica Leigh Jones. A private burial service will be held in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Pittsburgh. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, in the SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 402 East Church Street, Ligonier. The family would like to invite everyone following the memorial service to join them in a celebratory gathering (to be announced).
