Of Pittsburgh, age 87, on Monday, January 13, 2014. Beloved wife of 64 years to Thomas J. Borowitz, Jr.; loving mother of Barbara Borowitz Troianos (Christopher) and Francine Borowitz Chau (Dennis); grandmother of Rachael, Andrew, and Rebecca Troianos and Matthew and Joshua Chau; daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Lonkar) Tomasic; sister of Frank (Josephine) Tomasic, Genevieve Malagreca, Gloria Sullivan, Geraldine (Ray) Wilcauskas and the late Anna McQuade, Steve Tomasic, Frances Kerr, and Jean McQuade; also survived by her beloved dog, Augie, whom she spent many hours teaching tricks. Mom was a strong woman who overcame the Depression and other hardships. She faced adversity head-on. She obtained her GED and continued to be a voracious reader until the day she passed. She was a woman of strong faith and could be seen every morning with her prayer cards. She worked until the young age of 75, managing a pizza shop, when health issues sidelined her. She was a familiar face at St. Catherine of Siena's food festival – fondly called the "Funnel Cake Lady." She continued to be a support to her family helping out with the grandchildren, lending a sympathetic ear, and baking all her delicacies – nut rolls, pizzelles, and soups. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS, 412-531-4000. Friends welcome at 2630 West Liberty Avenue, Dormont, 15216, Saturday 10 a.m. till noon. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Catherine of Siena Church. Entombment in Queen of Heaven Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are being accepted by the family. Please read and add a tribute at:
