Age 89, of Crafton, peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2014. Beloved husband of Patricia (O'Mahony) Schepner; fun loving father of Charles, and the late John (and his surviving wife, Leanne), Adam (Catherine), Rob (Karen) and David (Jennifer) Schepner; 17 grandchildren; brother of Dorothy McDonough and the late Betty Jean O'Connell; also many nieces and nephews. Ed was a former pitcher for the Crafton Church League, a World War II veteran with the US Navy and a pitcher for the US Navy baseball team. Also a member of the K of C Council 875 and the Frank R. Kirk American Legion Post 145. A dedicated third generation funeral director with over 50 years of service to the tri-community. Also a bad avid golfer and Pittsburgh sports fan, past "el presidente" of the 40 Thieves Invitational. Friends received Tuesday 2-8 p.m. at the SCHEPNER - McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, 165 Noble Ave., Crafton. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Philip Catholic Church. Bishop William Winter will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made in Ed's name to St. Philip's School, 52 West Crafton Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15205. Burial will be with full military honors in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
