ROBERT J. CARTER Obituary
CARTER ROBERT J.
February 26, 1932 - March 28, 2014. A Kind, generous, gentle, creative dreamer, "Carter" grew-up on the family farm in Presto, PA. He actively pursued a joyful, adventurous life. He starred as Stanley Kowalski during his acting stint in Summerstock Theater. A Korean War vet., Sargent Carter attended Duquesne, where his alter-ego "Matt Burns" drew satirical cartoons for the college. He hitched across the USA. He hopped a freighter across the Atlantic to bike around Europe and climb the Materhorn. He worked as Creative Director at Ketchum, then freelanced until retiring at 75. He enjoyed gardening, reading, travelling, and collecting antiques. Carter resided in West Middletown where he began the Apple Pie Festival and worked to have the village listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. He will be deeply missed by his devoted partner of 18 years, Dan Pollastrini, Dan's family, and all his beloved friends.
