Age 90, of Oakmont, formerly of Highland Park. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Chirico for 57 years. Mary passed away peacefully at Forbes Hospice on Saturday morning, March 29, 2014, with her family by her side. She was born in July 1923, in the East Liberty section of Pittsburgh where in her youth she worked at her parent's grocery store. She was a life-long member and volunteer at Sacred Heart Church in Shadyside and worked as a buyer of children's shoes, sold women's suits, and was a petite model for downtown Pittsburgh department stores. She raised her family in Highland Park where she was an active member of the Highland Park Community Club, volunteering at summer camps in the 1950s. She was a skilled seamstress making prom gowns and the bridesmaids' dresses for her daughters' weddings. She was an excellent homemaker enjoying her garden and flowers and family meals. In retirement she and Joe enjoyed traveling. They visited Japan, Hawaii, Italy, Mexico, Canada and many cities in the US. She was beloved mother to daughters, Mary Lynn Raith, JoAnn Chirico, Mary Jo Haffner; sons-in-law, Paul Raith and Daniel Haffner; grandchildren, Erin, Casey, Mari, and JD and great-grandchildren, Nathan, Natalie, AJ, Angel, and EJ. She is the sister of George and Millie Linnelli of Oakland, formerly of Highland Park and sister-in-law of Nicolina Mendonca and Fred Chirico of San Jose, California. Friends received at McCABE BROS., INC.
