Age 96, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully at home, with family by her side, on April 12, 2014. Born May 12, 1917, in Charlotte Courthouse, VA, she kept her charming Southern accent throughout her life, and she was known for her warm smile and her gracious and hospitable demeanor. During her remarkable life, she worked for the FBI as a decoder during World War II. In the 1960s, she and her late husband, Paul, lived in Thailand as a Fulbright family, and she later wrote a book, "A Farang from Virginia," about the experience. During her years in Pittsburgh, she worked as a librarian at the Carnegie Library in Oakland. Blair was an active volunteer for her church and community, teaching English to Internationals for Prism, teaching children to read for Christian Literary Associates, and serving in the food pantry at East End Cooperative Ministry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Isabella and Matthew Lyle; her husband, Paul Krakowski; and her brothers, Matthew, Bill and Dru. She is survived by her brother, John Faris Lyle; nine nieces; and four nephews. Friends will be received on Saturday, April 26, 2014, from 10 a.m. until an 11 a.m. Memorial Service in the Fourth Presbyterian Church, 5450 Friendship Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to East End Cooperative Ministry, 319 N.
