Age 90, of Coraopolis, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 3, 2014. Beloved husband of Della (Tarallo) Chieski for 65 years; devoted father of Michael (Jeanne Swan) Chieski, Kathy "Kate" (Rodney) Ross, Donald (Patty Ivankovich) Chieski, and Paula (George) Palefsky; loving grandfather of Michelle, Brian, Gina, and Emily. He was preceded in death by brother, Edward Chesky; nephew, Edward Chesky, Jr., and in-laws, Louis and Clara Baldassare, Red and Sally Tarallo, Mario and Ruth Tarallo, Luke and Rose Maggi, Joseph and Martha Burkey, and Raymond Carl. Survived by in-laws, Madeline Chesky, Louis and Shirley Tarallo, Josephine Carl, and Frank and Esther Wilhelm, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Joseph was a veteran of the Navy, serving in WWII, aboard an L.S.T. in the Atlantic Theatre of the European War. Following an honorable discharge, Joseph was employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and then at the 911 Air Force Base for 31 years. Following his retirement from the airbase, he worked at the former Sewickely Country Inn, and then enjoyed many years of total retirement. Friends and family will be received at the ANTHONY J. SANVITO FUNERAL HOME, 1316 4th Avenue, Coraopolis, PA (412) 264-3050, on Tuesday 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Prayers in funeral home on Wednesday at 9 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 a.m. St. Joseph Church, Coraopolis.
