JOSEPH A. GAETANO Obituary
GAETANO JOSEPH A.
Age 88, of Dormont, peacefully on May 14, 2014. Husband of the late Diane Mrkonic Gaetano. Joe is survived by his daughter, Darlene McCaffrey; sons, Rick, Randy and Russ Gaetano; granddaughters, Courtney Gaetano, Caitlin and Christina McCaffrey; grandsons, Garrett and Kyle Gaetano; and a brother, Ross Gaetano; also survived by many beloved nephews, nieces and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Napoleon (Ted) Gaetano; and sisters, Elizabeth Wassell, Mary Burr, Tomasina Miller, Frances Miles and Julia Bobbs. Mr. Gaetano was a retired union carpenter and was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, Local 2274. He served during World War II as a sergeant in the US Army Air Corps and trained at Roswell Air Field, flying in the combat crew of the B-29 Super Fortress as gunner in the 427th Army Air Force and later served as a military police officer. He was awarded the American Theatre Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal. Joe was a member of and daily participant of Mass at the St. Bernard Catholic Church in Mt. Lebanon. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUER. Friends welcome at 2630 West Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15216, Friday, May 16 from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Beechview.
