MILES CAROLYN L. (BITTNER)
Of Cranberry Township, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014. Born December 9, 1938, in Kennedy Township, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Marie (Werlinch) Bittner. Carolyn was a faithful member of the Shadyside Presbyterian Church where she most recently served as a Stephen Minister. She earned her B.A. in Math and Science from Case Western Reserve University and her master's degree in Math Education from Kent State University. For nine years, she taught high school math and science throughout the Cleveland area. Above all, she will be most remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved husband of 53 years, Robert J. Miles, Sr. who she married on June 17, 1961; her two loving children, Robert J. Miles, Jr. and Stephanie Grund and her husband, Victor and her two adored granddaughters, Chloe and Malia Grund. The Miles family will welcome friends on Thursday, May 22, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 130 Wisconsin Avenue, Cranberry Township. She will be laid to rest in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Kennedy Township. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014, at the Shadyside Presbyterian Church, 5121 Westminster Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15232, with Rev. Todd E. Leach, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the Miles family suggests memorial contributions be made in her honor in support of the Shadyside Presbyterian Church Mission Action Committee.
