DAVID A. "KAZ" KAZMIERCZAK Obituary
KAZMIERCZAK
DAVID A. "KAZ"
It is with much sadness that we announce that David A. "KAZ" Kazmierczak, age 44, of Overbrook, passed away, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer, on Saturday, May 24, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Donald and Patricia (Feldmeier) Kazmierczak. He was the beloved husband of Veronica (Brestensky) Kazmierczak; the adored brother of Lisa (Donald) Hooker and Pamela (Leonard) Graham; and the son-in-law of Kathleen Brestensky; and "grandson" of Irene Galecki. Dave was also known as "the coolest uncle ever" of Joshua, Matthew, and Jessica Graham and Jordan Hooker. Dave served his country in the United States Air Force, and then served the City of Pittsburgh as a police officer, recently honored for his 20 years of service to the police force, and was a member of St. Norbert Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, and traveling. Friends will be received Thursday from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. at READSHAW FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1503 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15210. Funeral Prayer will be Friday at 9:15 a.m. at Readshaw Funeral Home, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Norbert Church, 2413 St. Norberts Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15234, with Father Stephen Kresak, officiating. Burial Service will be Saturday in St. Mary's Cemetery, 3330 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068. The procession will leave from Readshaw Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m., arriving at St. Mary's for a 12:00 noon Burial Service. All are welcome. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Dave's Brothers and Sisters in Blue from the Pittsburgh Police Force who have been by his side from the time of diagnosis until his passing, and to Dave's childhood friends who have always kept the faith. We would also like to give special thanks to Dr. Robert L. Volkin and his staff at the UPMC Cancer Center, Upper St. Clair, for the extraordinary care that was given to our Dave throughout his four years of treatment. In lieu of flowers, it was Dave's request that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 301 Grant Street, Suite 900, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. Send condolences to:
