Peacefully, on Monday, May 26, 2014, at age 93. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Andrew Alex; and wonderful mother to her six children. After making their home in Mt. Lebanon in the 1950s, she and Andrew were soul mates and business partners. She was an executive in their steel fabrication plant and worked tirelessly in providing a good life and college educations for each of their children. Helen had countless, beautiful qualities. Perhaps her utter love and appreciation of life and people, her compassion and empathy, her brilliance, vision and intuition, her energy, drive, and motivation, her endless love of learning, her artistic talents, and great sense of humor were among her finest qualities. To know Helen was to love her. She had many lovely friends and neighbors whom she treasured. She was an outstanding role model for her children who will never forget her years of hard work and discipline. She lived her final six years with her daughter Joy, son-in-law, John Hensler, and granddaughter, Elena, who provided her with unparalleled tender loving care and support. She will be greatly missed. The world has lost a pearl, but heaven has gained a diamond. She is the loving mother of Andrew R. (late Dee), Howard (Peggy), Nancy (Walter) McMillan, Dr. Nadine (Timothy Rhodes) Alex, M.D., Joy (John Hensler) Alex, Ph.D., and Jean (Jay) Weil; sister of Elsie Luke and the late Paul, Edward, and Peter Luke; also survived by 12 grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. The family wishes to express thanks to her caregivers, Dr. Purighalla, Family Hospice and her Prime Time family. Visitations and services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Prime Time Adult Care, 44 Highland Rd., Bethel Park, PA 15102. A Memorial Service will be held in Mt. Lebanon on July 27, 2014. Arrangements LAUGHLIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL.
