SHIRLEY ANN (FRENCH)
Age 82, of Monroeville, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Harbour Assisted Living Center, Monroeville. She was born in Washington, PA on November 20, 1931, the daughter of the late Robert A. French and Geneva (Burns) French. She graduated from Washington High School, Washington, Pennsylvania. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Jacobs worked as a laboratory technician at Washington and Canonsburg Hospitals in Pennsylvania. She married Lieutenant Kenneth R. Jacobs May 4, 1952, in Washington, Pennsylvania. During the next 25 years, she accompanied her husband, Col. (Ret.) Kenneth R. Jacobs, to various military bases in the United States and Germany. During this period, she served in many volunteering positions with the American Red Cross and Army Community Service. She received several commendations for this service. While in Germany, she was in charge of the Army Community Service operation in Bad Kreuznach, Germany. She was recognized for having the best ACS operation in Germany and second best worldwide. She is survived by two sons, Kim A. Jacobs of Pittsburgh, Kenneth R. Jacobs of Lake Wales, Florida; and a daughter, Kelly M. Bell of Leesburg, Virginia; daughters-in-law, Mary Suzanne Sandala-Jacobs, Yoline Jacobs; and son-in-law, Stuart Bell; seven grandchildren, Christian S. Jacobs of Springfield, Virginia, Margaret A. Jacobs of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Lexi Bell of Leesburg, Virginia, Kenneth R. Jacobs of Hamburg, Pennsylvania, Dustin Ryan Jacobs of Florida, Adalee and Haley Jacobs of Pittsburgh. She is also survived by two sisters, Linda Sroka of Washington, Pennsylvania and Judith Sprowls of Sacramento, California; and five great- grandchildren, Jacoby Jacobs, Jaclyn Jacobs, Lily and Emma Jacobs, and Braxton McCants. Arrangements by the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. (MONROEVILLE / PLUM CHAPEL), corner of Beatty Rd. and 48 North, Monroeville, (412-856-4747). Interment to follow at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
