JOYCE SISTER MARILYN, OSF
On Monday, June 23, 2014. Beloved daughter of the late Martin W. and Mary H. Joyce; sister of Adesta Hytha and Edward J. Joyce and the late Lawrence H. Joyce and Sr. Mary Laurence Joyce, OSF. Sister taught in intermediate and secondary schools for 21 years in the Dioceses of Pittsburgh, Altoona- Johnstown and Puerto Rico. She was co-director of a Franciscan internship program in spiritual direction which called for travel to South Africa, Kenya, Zambia, England, and the Philippines. She served in formation positions within the community. From 1989 to 1993, Sister Marilyn served as Community Director for the Sisters of St. Francis of Millvale. Sister served as archivist for 13 years and until recently, provided spiritual direction for those seeking a deeper relationship with God. Sister Marilyn will be remembered for her love of Franciscan spirituality and her desire to share this gift with the entire world. Visitation Wednesday 2-7 p.m. at Mt. Alvernia Motherhouse Chapel, 146 Hawthorne Rd., Millvale, where Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis Ministry, Formation or Retirement Fund, 146 Hawthorne Rd., Pgh., PA 15209.
