Age 67, of Eighty-Four (Nottingham Township), died Friday, July 4, 2014, at his home. He was born February 20, 1947, in Pittsburgh; a son of the late Elmer and Vidla Goettel. Mr. Goettel was retired as a maintenance supervisor at Bethel Park School District. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Finleyville. Surviving are his wife, Clara Bianchi Goettel; two daughters, Susan Foster and her husband, Damian of New Eagle and Karen Kolessar and her partner, Dennis Lopata of Monongahela; a half-brother, Elmer "Sonny" Goettel of Carrick; and four grandchildren, Josh, Tiffany, Fox Anne, and Hunter. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at KEGEL FUNERAL HOME, INC., Tim P. Kegel, supervisor, 3560 Washington Avenue, in Finleyville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, at St. Francis Church, Finleyville, with Reverend Richard Tusky as celebrant. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray, with full military honors accorded by Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Building Fund, 3609 Washington Avenue, Finleyville, PA 15332.
