Obituary Condolences

Of Baldwin Township, on Thursday, July 3, 2014. Wife of the late Alexander; beloved mother of David J. and William G. (Kay) Hibbard; sister of Dorothy Meneffe; grandmother of Katherine A. (Lee) Buick, Timothy W. Hibbard, and Jeremy Gercio; great-grandmother of Lachlan J. Buick. When Thelma's children were of scouting age, she acted as den mother of the pack. She was an excellent seamstress, making clothes for herself and others. In later years, she loved boating and water skiing with friends and family, but most of her free time was spent in volunteer service to St. Mark Lutheran Church in Brookline, for well over 40 years. She was instrumental in the purchase and management of the original Brookline mini bus, she faithfully delivered food for the Brookline Meals on Wheels program, she enjoyed teaching Sunday school and vacation Bible school. However, the church activity that the Hibbard's both enjoyed the most was erecting and decorating the Christmas tree every year. Thelma was a mainstay in the traditional Lutheran Women's activities of circle meetings, sewing circle, as well as prayer chains and altar preparations for Communion and countless other church projects. Thelma was a voracious and well informed reader and lover of radio talk shows. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service Friday, July 11, 2014, at 11 a.m. in St. Mark Lutheran Church, Brookline. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brookline Meals-on-Wheels Program at St. Mark Lutheran Church.
