JAMES A.
Age 71, of Plum Boro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 8, 2014. Beloved husband of 50 years to Sandra (Kucera) Davis; father of Jeffrey (Karen) Davis and Amy (Jason) Cribbs; grandfather of Lauren (Brandon) Gasowski, Jacob Davis, Nathan Cribbs and Evan Cribbs; brother of Judy (Robert) Cobb of New Jersey. Born in Wilkes-Barre on February 15, 1943, James was preceded in death by his parents, Bette and Oscar Davis. He received his undergrad and Master's in Education from Indiana State College. His teaching career spanned 35 years. At Springdale High School, he taught mathematics and was the Gifted Education Coordinator (GATE). He also taught classes at CCAC Boyce. He loved teaching and loved his students who appreciated the humor he brought to his classes. For 48 years he was involved with Academic Games and was one of four founders as well as Board Vice President of AGLOA (Academic Games Leagues of America). James was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Penn Hills and played trumpet for several years in the Syria Shrine Band. He was an elder and participated in many activities at Universal United Presbyterian Church. Friends received Thursday, 7-9 p.m. and Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at SOXMAN FUNERAL HOMES, LTD./ROTH CHAPEL, 7450 Saltsburg Road (at Universal Road), Penn Hills, where a Service will be held, Saturday, 11 a.m. Interment in Plum Creek Cemetery.
