ROBERT M., M.D.
Age 67, of Upper St. Clair, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2014, in his home. A graduate of Lower Merion High School, he also graduated from the five year medical program at The Pennsylvania State University and Thomas Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia. Dr. Lumish completed his internship, residency, and fellowship at Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He then served as an Epidemic Intelligence Service officer in Miami, FL, before returning to Pittsburgh in 1977. Dr. Lumish was the Chief of Infectious Diseases at Mercy Hospital, where he enjoyed practicing for 30 years. He also founded Pittsburgh Infectious Diseases, Ltd., serving St. Clair, Jefferson Regional, Canonsburg General, and Washington hospitals. He and his wife enjoyed attending performances at the Pittsburgh Public Theater and City Theater, traveling, and bicycling. Dr. Lumish was a member of Temple Emanuel. He is survived by his wife, Saundra (Schneyer) Lumish; his children, Adam Lumish (Jennifer) of Upper St. Clair and Terry Babcock-Lumish (Brian) of Honolulu, HI; his granddaughter, Kayla Lumish; sisters, Merle Holland (Peter) of Chicago, IL, and Ellen Hesse (Robert) of Jenkintown, PA. Services and interment in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery were held privately under the direction of William Slater II Funeral Service.
