1926 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
A Passionist priest, died after a brief illness on August 1, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Monastery in Jamaica, NY. Father Quentin was born on June 22, 1926, the son of the late Frank J. Amrhein and Magdalen (Helmbrecht) Amrhein. Father was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, Robert, Father Raphael Amrhein, C.P., Mercedes, and Sister Mary Amrhein, C.P. Father Quentin is survived by a niece and several nephews. Father Quentin entered the Passionist novitiate at St. Paul of the Cross Monastery, on the South Side in 1946 and professed his first vows in 1947. He was ordained a priest on February 27, 1953 and served in various ministries in the Province of St. Paul of the Cross. As a member of the Passionist Community, Father Quentin followed in the footsteps of his granduncle, Father Joseph Amrhein, C.P., who served in the United States and in Rome, Italy, and his uncle, Father Leonard Amrhein, C.P., a missionary in the Philippines. Father Quentin's brother, the late Father Raphael Amrhein, C.P., was a Passionist priest, and his sister, Sister Mary Amrhein, C.P., was a Passionist Nun and missionary in Japan. A Memorial Mass for Father Quentin was celebrated at Immaculate Conception Monastery on Monday, August 4, 2014. A viewing will take place at St. Paul of the Cross Monastery Chapel on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a Vigil Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Paul of the Cross Monastery Church. Interment will be in the Monastery Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Passionist Community, Retirement Fund Immaculate Conception Monastery, 86-45 Edgerton Blvd., Jamaica, NY 11432.
