Obituary Condolences

On Thursday, August 7, 2014, Irmalea, age 96, peacefully passed away into the arms of our Lord at her daughter's home in North Versailles where she had lived for the past six years. She was the beloved wife of the late Bernard C. Weigold, Sr. for 64 years and she was the daughter of the late Charles and Willalea Vance. In addition to her parents, Irmalea was also raised by her beloved grandmother, Eva Bierkamp. Mrs. Weigold attributed her lifelong good health to her wise grandmother's teachings that food was medicine, along with her own belief that drinking several glasses of "Pepsi" a day was a good thing. Both she and her husband Bernard were born and raised in Bloomfield and eventually made their family home in North Braddock. As an only child, Irmalea knew from a young age that she wanted to have a large family, and ultimately, family became her life's passion. She took great pride in knowing that her children's friends enjoyed coming to "The Weigold House" and being part of the family. She cherished the many wonderful memories of large dinners, hectic holidays and game room parties throughout her entire life. Mrs. Weigold was the loving mother of Bernard (Jeanie) Weigold, Jr. of North Carolina, Richard (Sandy) Weigold of Jefferson Hills, Robert (Bertha) Weigold of Texas, Virginia (Gregory) Gloss of Conneautville, Linda (Edward, Jr.) Ryan of Maryland, William (Maureen) Weigold of Mars, David (Judy) Weigold of Erie, Patricia Weigold of North Versailles, Dorothy Gaston of North Braddock, and the late Betsy McKinley who had lived in North Braddock; she is also survived by 19 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Friends are welcome Saturday 6-8 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at PATRICK T. LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME, 700 Linden Avenue at Cable, East Pittsburgh, 412-824-8800. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Maria Goretti Parish, Liberty Campus, 4712 Liberty Avenue in Bloomfield on Monday at 12:30 p.m. Burial will take place in Allegheny Cemetery followed by a celebration luncheon of Mrs. Weigold's life at Del's Restaurant on Liberty Avenue in Bloomfield.
