LEE R. OEHRLE Obituary
OEHRLE
LEE R.
Age 75, of O'Hara Twp., passed away, with family at her side, on Saturday, August 9, 2014. Beloved wife of 53 years to John S. Oehrle, M.D.; loving mother of Scott D. (Maureen) Oehrle and Jenna O. (Mark) Rodrigues; cherished Meema of Jeremy, Jessica, Jonathan, Aidan, and Sophia; sister of Kai (Melanie) Schrodt; sister-in-law of Betsy Oehrle; cousin of Anne C. (Robert) DeOrsey. Lee grew up in Kensington, MD and graduated from Wheaton High School. She was a wonderful singer and a beautiful pianist. She trained for two years at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, where she studied to be a concert pianist, and transferred to Carnegie Tech where she graduated in 1961, when she and her husband moved to Pittsburgh as he began his career in medicine. They resided in Mt. Lebanon, where she raised her two children, Scott and Jenna. This is where her love of helping others and volunteerism grew. She served as the PTA president for several years and was a devoted parishioner of the Southminster Presbyterian Church. She was the accompanist for the South Hills Chorale for 12 years. In 1989, she and her husband moved to O'Hara Township where she continued as a tireless volunteer at the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church. She was devoted to the ministry of music through voice as a Chancel Choir member for 25 years, children's choir piano accompaniment and the music librarian. She also served as a Deacon at FCPC. She was a reader for the blind with Pittsburgh's Radio Information Service on WDUQ, and helped adults learn to read through a local literacy organization. She will be remembered as a sweet person who always lent a helping hand, had a smile and a kind word for others. Friends will be received Friday, August 15, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. at the WEDDELL - AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Avenue, Aspinwall. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, 384 Fox Chapel Rd. Interment Monongahela Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church (Ministry of Music) Pittsburgh, PA 15238.
