Of Brookline, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014, surrounded by his children. Born May 19, 1932, to Homer Milton and Mary Ann Watkins Griffin, Milt grew up in Mt. Washington, attending Prospect School, South Hills High School, and the University of Pittsburgh. While raising four children with his wife, Juanita Miller Griffin, Milt worked as an accountant at James H. Matthews Bronze Company for almost 40 years before retiring in 1997. Milt served his community as a Brookline Little League coach for many years. He was a longtime member of the Brookline Boulevard United Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the church choir. He enjoyed singing with the Char Val singers and was an avid participant in senior games where he won numerous medals. Milt was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Juanita; and brother, Donald Craig Griffin. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Moore of Coraopolis; daughter, Diane Saphire and husband, R. Douglas Brackenridge, of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Linda Trimble and husband, Richard Trimble, of Brookline; son, Barry Griffin and wife, Susan Ollio Griffin, of Oldsmar, FL; son, Scott Griffin of Houston, PA; 14 grandchildren, several great- grandchildren, and devoted friend, Phyllis Haduch of Mount Washington. Milt's family extends their deepest appreciation to the dedicated and caring staff members of the Redwood Community at Asbury Heights for their support during Milt's last months. Donations in memory of Milt may be made to the Brookline Boulevard United Presbyterian Church, 1036 Brookline Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15226. A service in celebration of Milt's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 16, 2014, at the Brookline Boulevard United Presbyterian Church, the Reverend Marsha Sebastian officiating.
