1930 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
Age 87, of Venetia died Friday, September 8, 2017 at Southwestern Veterans Center in Pittsburgh. He was born July 10, 1930 in Jasper, AL; a son of Ernest and Velma Cain Holliday. Mr. Holliday was retired as a project manager with the former McDonald- Douglas, Inc. now Boeing Corporation, in Fort Walton Beach, FL. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, was an Eagle Scout and attended John McMillan Presbyterian Church in Bethel Park. Mr. Holliday wishes to be remembered for his accomplishments as a Fellow in Creative Problem Solving Institute, Famous Poets Society and many contributions to International Lions Club, where he was awarded the Melvin Jones Award in Palm Harbor, FL, the cities of Destin, FL and St. Louis, MO and his work as Lay Leader of the United Methodist Church in Ferguson, MO and the United Presbyterian Church in Dunedin, FL. Surviving are his wife, Rosemary Brittain Holliday; a son, Matthew Holliday (Barbara) of Dublin, OH; two daughters, Kathy Hetrick of Venetia and Wendy Holliday of Bozeman, MT; a sister, Polly D. Holliday of New York, NY; two grandchildren, Thomas (Emily) and Anna Lynn Holliday; in-laws, Claire Brittain (Kay) of Greenville, SC and Becky Jack of Finleyville; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a sister, Anita Stripling. A special thanks to Janis Finn and Lisa Hurst for their many years of caring. There will be no public viewing. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Mr. Holliday's life from 2-4 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2017 at KEGEL FUNERAL HOME, INC., Tim P. Kegel, Supervisor, David P. Kegel, Director, 3560 Washington Avenue, in Finleyville. Inurnment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors accorded by Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad.
