JOHN R. "JACK" "SAM"
Age 89, a long time resident of Beechview, passed away on October 10, 2017. He was born on March 13, 1928 and raised in Mt. Washington. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Joan L. (Colwes) Graner; and five children, Scott (Tammy) Graner, Glenn (Linda) Graner, Cindy (Allen) Stein, Christopher (Teresa) Graner and Susan Graner (Andrea Janczak); eight grandchildren, Kathleen Graner, Steven (Ashley) Graner, Madison Graner, Grace Graner, Sara (John) Roche, Allen Michael Stein, Justin Graner and Joshua Graner; two great-grandchildren, Duncan and Celia Graner; nephews, Jim (Linda) Burge and David Lang; and niece, Patty Lang. John was a U.S. Army veteran and was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Gladys (Holgate) Graner; and five older siblings. Special thanks to the staff at the Mt. Lebanon Rehab and Wellness Center, the Amedisys Hospice and the VA Hospital for their excellent care during his illness over the past six months. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church in Beechview on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Allegheny Valley School, Attention: Dorothy Gordon, 1996 Ewings Mill Road, Coraopolis, PA 15108, https://avs.nhsonline.org.
