CRNIC FRANK, JR.
On Saturday, Sept 11, 2010, Frank Crnic, Jr., 93, of Longwood at Oakmont, (formerly of Monroeville) Born on July 28, 1917 in Madison, PA, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Kinkella) Crnic. Dear Husband for 58 years of Catherine (Jacobansky) Crnic. Loving father of Mary Ann (Bob) Stanutz of Monroeville, Kathy (Jack) Siembieda, of Camp Hill, PA, Frank (Jackie) Crnic, III of New Fairfield, CT, and Margaret Crnic of Arlington, VA. Grandfather of Katie, Ed, and Sara Stanutz, Brian and Karen Siembieda, Emily, Steven, and Meg Crnic. Brother of John (Joan) Crnic, of Kansas City, MO. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The Crnics moved to Longwood at Oakmont from Monroeville where they lived for 45 years. They were members of St. Irenaeus Church in Oakmont and were charter members of North American Martyrs Parish in Monroeville. During WWII, Mr. Crnic served in the South Pacific with the Army in the 20th Air Force, 303rd Air Service group, 73rd Bomb Wing as a finance officer where he advanced from the rank of private to that of major in a 47-month period. During his service career, he received The WWII Victory Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific with 3 Battle Stars, the American Campaign Medal and the Meritorious Service Unit Award. After the war, he received his BBA from the University of Pittsburgh. He was employed with several local trucking companies including 27 years with Lightening Express and 23 years with J. Miller Express from where he retired as traffic manager and vice president. Formerly, he was a member of the University Club, Edgewood Country Club, Niagara Frontier Tariff Bureau, Central States Tariff Bureau, the Traffic and Transportation Association of Pittsburgh, and a registered practitioner before the Interstate Commerce Commission. The Crnics traveled extensively during their retirement, throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe. Friends and relatives will be received on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES. INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont from 9:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. Blessing Service in the funeral home with Father Frank Kurimsky officiating. Entombment will follow in Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery, Monroeville. Family suggests memorials to Hannah Health Care Center 500 Route 909, Verona, PA 15147.
