ROY HERBERT JR.
Age 87, of Slippery Rock Twp, on Saturday, November 13, 2010. Son of the late Roy Herbert Neer, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Fisher; husband of Irmtraud "Irmie" Neer; father of Michael Roy Neer, Ph.D. of Kansas City, MO, and Thomas Roy (Sandra) Neer of Palm City, FL; stepfather of Tania Ullrich of Pittsburgh, PA, and Kevin L. Krikorian of Denver, CO; brother of Claudia Stoltz of Santa Ana, CA, and Julia Feenie (Floyd) of Las Vegas, NV; also surviving are 4 grandchildren: Jennifer, Ruth, Ginger Ullrich, Matthew and Daniel Neer; preceded in death by a brother Clarence Henry Neer and two sisters Dorothy Frick and Imogene Neer. He retired in 1994 as owner and CEO of Mill Equipment & Engineering Corp. located in Lawrenceville, Pa. He also raised Limousin cattle on Quail Run Ranch in Slippery Rock and did engineering consulting from 1994 until present. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, located in Syracuse, NY. He was a World War II Navy Veteran serving on the submarines. He was on a submarine that escorted the USS Missouri during the official surrender of Japan that ended World War II. He enjoyed skeet shooting, where he was a state champion for Pennsylvania and New York. Friends will be received at the SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St. Slippery Rock on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with the service being held on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.Memorial Contributions may be given to Butler Humane Society. To Mike, Tom and Irmie -- I am so sorry for your loss. We are never ready to lose someone special in our lives, even when they are 87 years old and have lived a very full life.
